Brieanna Olson

Ballet & Progression

Brieanna Olson began her classical ballet training in Colorado. During these years she has received numerous awards including the prestigious "Grand Prix Award” (excellence in classical and contemporary) at the Youth America Grand Prix Denver regionals, along with several first place honors in the classical category. She was a two-time top 12 finalist and a full scholarship recipient to The Washington Ballet School at the YAGP NYC finals. Other awards include The Denver Ballet Guild’s 2nd and 3rd place awards as well numerous years in Top 5, and a two-time first place scholarship recipient at the Esther Jeffrey Young Dancers Scholarship Competition. Ms. Olson also trained at American Ballet Theatre NYC on scholarship and later attended the Washington Ballet School's pre-professional program on scholarship where she performed in the corps de ballet within company.

Brieanna’s professional career was with Ballet San Jose under the direction of Dennis Nahat, Wes Chapman, and Jose Manuel Carreño. She has had the opportunity to dance numerous lead roles including “Maria" in Nahat’s The Nutcracker, soloist roles in Nahat’s Swan Lake, Paquita, and Don Quixote. Her résumé also includes soloist and principal works in George Balanchine’s Square Dance, Allegro Brilliante, Who Cares?, Serenade, Clark Tippet’s Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1, Anthony Tudor’s Continuo, Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, Jerome Robbins Interplay and Dwight Rhoden’s Evermore.

Ms. Olson suffered a career ending injury that has brought her back to Colorado where she began teaching and choreographing all over the state. As a choreographer, Brieanna was honored to receive "Outstanding Choreographer" award at the Universal Ballet Competition in Denver (2022). With her coaching and choreography, her students have gone on to receive top awards at competitions such as, YAGP’s “Grand Prix Award" Senior Category (2021), YAGP’s "Youth Grand Prix Award" in the Junior Category (2022), YAGP top 24 finalists at the Miami finals, and UBC’s Legacy Award (2022) along with numerous top 3 and top 12 placements. Ms. Olson has had the pleasure of offering classical ballet training to US Figure Skaters, which have achieved the Bronze Medal at The Olympics. Brieanna is also a certified GYROTONIC®️ trainer, which offers the perfect cross training that helps nurture a smart, strong, fluid dancer, that embodies and embraces a true mind body connection.
