Kayla is a Colorado Springs native. She began her dance training at age four and joined Ballet Society at age ten. She has studied several types of dance styles including: ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, and hip hop. She was also a member of the Colorado Youth Ballet for six seasons and danced in countless productions. Kayla received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English—Creative Writing from the University of Denver, with minors in Psychology and Film Studies and Production. During her time at DU, she was an editorial intern for The Denver Quarterly, the Editor-in-Chief of Foothills Magazine, she received the Olna Font Cook Award from the Department of English, and her photography project was displayed in The Vicki Myhren Gallery during an art exhibition. She graduated with Institutional Honors: Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and received Departmental Honors for her senior thesis—a feature-length film script. After graduation, she went on to attend The Denver Publishing Institute (DPI) where she earned her Publishing Certificate. Upon graduating from DPI, she was offered a position with a film production team as their Social Media Coordinator. They have currently produced two films which have screened in 41 film festivals and have won 29 awards. Kayla is our Media Director; she maintains our website and various social media platforms, writes press releases, edits video, and is our in-studio photographer. She is happy to be home and working with the Ballet Society community.
