Ballet Society Presents Petite Nutcracker for 250 Head Start Students and Families
Colorado Ballet Society’s and the Colorado Youth Ballet, will present a Petite Nutcracker to two-hundred-fifty participants of the CPCD…giving children a head start program, at the Louisa Performing Arts Center of The Colorado Springs School on Sunday, December 10, at 6:30pm.
“We are excited to share our Petite Nutcracker production with Head Start students and their families,” shares Ballet Society and Youth Ballet founder and director, Patricia Hoffman. “I’m always amazed at how people pull together to create quality arts experiences in our community.”

Thirty dancers from the Youth Ballet and Ballet Society’s Contemporary Dance Company will present a forty-five-minute performance. Contemporary dance selections will open the show and followed by our introduction to the Nutcracker ballet, including shortened versions of the Party Scene, the Battle Scene and the Land of the Sweets.
“Each year our company dancers participate in a local ‘tour’ where we bring popular dance presentations to local venues including schools, libraries, churches, and/or retirement homes,” says Hoffman. “It’s our goal to entertain, educate and inspire everyone to participate in dance at their preferred level. Whether it be as a dance student, or as an enthusiastic audience member at local dance performances.”
Ballet Society’s 2017-2018 tour includes performances at Chapel Hills Mall, Library 21c, Village Seven Presbyterian Church, and several local schools will host presentations this coming spring.
2017-18 is Ballet Society’s 20th Anniversary season. In appreciation of two decades of success, Hoffman and staff have created a special holiday event, A Colorado Nutcracker. Celebrating the unique history of the Pikes Peak Region, this customizedproduction features all the traditional elements of the classic Nutcracker ballet and envisions the founding characters of Colorado Springs at a 1907 Christmas Eve celebration in the Great Hall of Glen Eyrie. Music is provided by the musicians of the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony, and the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale. This show features new costumes, backdrops, and sets.
