Summer Hiett is a Colorado native, raised in Denver. She danced professionally with the Arvada Center Theater, David Taylor Dance Theater, Vintage Productions in Colorado, Duncan-Lawton City Ballet in Oklahoma, and Millennium Dancers in Texas. She graduated her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Utah, and went on to get her Master’s in Teaching, and her Master’s in Nursing from Johhs Hopkins University. Summer has taught over the last 25 years in all genres and for all ages of dance from ballet to hip hop to cultural dance in both school and studio settings. For 9 years she directed, taught, and choreographed dance and drill teams in North Texas to award-winning seasons, including musical choreography and staging where students won several Betty Buckley Awards. Her experience also includes coaching style and stretching for ice skaters and 6 years in exercise physiology in the physical therapy setting, and she is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique. She is passionate about utilizing body mechanics and anatomical placement in dance to avoid injury and to help students dig into their performance qualities that demonstrate their love for dance.
