    Hebrews, Chapter 6, Verse 19.

  • CBS faculty will guide the dancers to seek God’s direction for their lives and develop their potential in dance through technique and inspirational training. Together we will explore the knowledge of God’s glory for our hearts- “He is an Anchor for our soul.”

  • Each day begins with Creative Worship, where our dancers can use their artistic expression in praise and worship, and experience His presence through dance. Following the accounts and example of King David and Abraham’s sister Miriam, students express themselves through dance and inspire others to worship the Lord through movement.

2020 Summer Worship Workshop Instructors:

Bethanny Jorenby was born in southern California, where she knew even before the age of three she wanted to pursue a career in the performing arts. In third grade, she began taking ballet classes at Expanding Harmony Dance Studio in Brookings, South Dakota, at which time dance quickly moved from a hobby to a passion. Under the direction of Melissa Hauschild-Mork, Jerilyn Ommen, and Tabitha Hudson-Wedemeyer, Bethanny was able to study choreographic creation and various technical theater elements as well as ballet, tap, modern, jazz, and musical theater dance. She has choreographed numerous shows (Annie, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Bye-Bye Birdie), designed costumes for local theater companies (Annie, The Music Man, Anne of Green Gables), assisted in casting for American Girl "Isabella" dance promotions, and created various concert works (The Slant, In The Shade of A Tree, Let There Be, What Can I Do) both in workshop and for performance. Bethanny loves teaching and strives to create a classroom environment that is fun and encouraging while always challenging students to grow to the next level.

Josie Hawkins has been with Colorado Ballet Society since she was six-years-old and is a part of National Honors Society for Dance Arts, Praise Dance Ensemble, and the Superintendent Student Advisory Council for District 20. Some of her favorite past roles include Cinderella, Snow Queen, Dew Drop Fairy, and Clara.  She has also won awards such as 1st place in the Jazz Master Class Scholarship competition (2018), 2nd place at Ester Geffrey Scholarship Competition (2015), and a finalist at the Denver Ballet Guild Competition (2016, 2018), totaling to $1,350 in scholarships. Josie will be joining Ballet Magnificats! Events Company, the highest Trainee Level at America's Premier Christian Ballet Company. When she’s not dancing, Josie loves to fly fish with Colorado Trout Unlimited. Josie gives all the glory to God with everything that she does.

Elizabeth Worf attended her first dance class at the age of four and quickly found a love for the art form. She began her training at Colorado Ballet Society (CBS) when she was eight-years-old, under the direction of Patricia Hoffman. Through the CBS pre-professional program, she has had the opportunity to perform in classical ballets such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, La Sylphide, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker.  Her most notable roles have included Swan Corps, Clara, Shepherdess, and Winter Corps.

After watching Ballet Magnificat! perform in 2013, a passion ignited in her to dance for Jesus and as a ministry to others.  She continued training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, broadway, and worship dance.  As her passion for ballet and worship dance grew, so did her love for teaching as she began training as a Teaching Assistant at CBS in 2017.  Under the leadership of Bethanny Jorenby and Elisa Olson, she honed her teaching skills and has been a substitute instructor for the Sparkle program.

Elizabeth deeply desires to train and inspire the next generation of worship dancers!  She has been awarded a merit scholarship for the Ballet Magnificat! Summer Dance Intensive in Jackson, MS.

Patricia Hoffman, Director, Principal Teacher, founded Colorado Ballet Society (formerly Ballet Society of Colorado Springs) in September of 1997. Before moving to Colorado Springs, she founded and directed La Jolla Festival Ballet and Dance Center in Southern California. She began her studies in Monterey, California, with Patricia Wester. At age 16, Ms. Hoffman began to study full time with England’s Ballet Rambert. She received her MFA in classical ballet from U.S. International University where she also later joined the faculty. Ms. Hoffman performed principal roles created for her with Ballet International and San Diego Ballet. She also directed and taught in London; was principal at the San Diego Ballet School; and directed the USIU Conservatory of the Arts.
