Rentaro was born in Osaka, Japan. He grew up dancing in his parents ballroom dance studio 100 Carat Dance, and Sadamatsu Hamada Ballet School. In 2015 he won a scholarship at Youth America Grand Prix in New York and was invited to attend English National Ballet School. From there he received a job offer to join English National Ballet. He quickly rose through the ranks, and was promoted to First Soloist in 2025. Principal roles include Albrecht in Khan’s Giselle, Creature in Khan’s Creature, Take in Forsythe’s Rearray, Prince in Watkin and Smiths’s Nutcracker, Abdur Raman in Rojo’s Raymonda, Don Jose in Inger’s Carmen, The Son in Miller’s Le Noces, and The Creature of Fear in Graham’s Errand Into The Maze. Other memorable roles have been Nutcracker Doll in Eagling’s Nutcracker, and Bluebird in MacMillan’s Sleeping Beauty.
He has created three pieces for the company’s Emerging Dancer Awards and Emerging Choreographic Studio Session. Cha-Cha and Tiara has also been performed at Ballet Nights and twice on the Cunard’s Transatlantic Voyage, Moya at Sadler’s Wells, and Bloom, Then Fade soon at Ballet Nights. He is currently creating two pieces for another Emerging Dancer and for his champion ballroom parents.
